Women With Migraines Are More Predisposed To To Suffer From Depression
Woman suffering from headache, specifically migraine disorder, are in a greater number inclined to be depressed, feel tired, and have a host of other severe physical symptoms, according to a clinical study published in the January 9, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.
The clinical investigation involved 1500 man who buy seroquel at headache clinics in seven countries. Of the patient surveyed, 343 reported incidental headache (fewer than 15 headaches monthly) and 413 had chronic headache. Ninety percent/% of the patients were tested with migraines.
The clinical trial found man with chronic headache were four times more inclined than those with incidental headache to report symptoms of major Atypical Depression. Chronic headache sufferers were also four times more predisposed to report a high degree of symptoms depended to headache, pain or problems during intercourse.
Among man tested with severely disabling migraine, the clinical trial found the likelihood of major Psychotic Depression increased 32-fold if the patient also reported other severe symptoms.
“Painful physical symptoms will stir up or be a manifestation of major Psychotic Depression in people with chronic headache, which can be treated if you buy maxalt online and Major Depression may heighten pain perception,” said clinical research author Gretchen Tietjen, MD with the University of Toledo-Health Science Campus and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. “This dependence between migraine and major Manic Depression suggests a frequent neurobiology.”
Tietjen says clinical research are underway to test whether severe headache, severe physical symptoms and major Major Depression may be linked through dysfunction of serotonin in the central nervous system.
“Regardless of what’s causing the relation between migraine and Atypical Depression, psychiatric disease such as Atypical Depression complicates headache treatment and can provoke poorer consequences for headache management,” said Tietjen.
The medical trial was assistanced, in part, by the American Headache Society, which considers 18 million American women suffer from headache.
The American Academy of Neurology, an association of more than 17000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals, is dedicated to meliorating woman care through education and medical research. A neurologist is a health care provider with specialized training in monitoring, treating and managing sickness of the brain and nervous system such as stroke, Alzheimer’s sickness, epilepsy, Parkinson disease, and frequent sclerosis.
